These are a few of my favorite things 🎶

We all love Oprah’s favorite things, so I thought I’d do my own version!

But this is less about buying stuff, and more about the habits that changed my life. There will still be some things you can buy if you want though 😉

Prior to 2020 I’d tried it all, but the pandemic is really what allowed me to slow down and figure out what works best for me (aka I lost my job 😅). But we make lemonade out of lemons over here, and 4 years later I have it figured out! Spoiler alert: it’s really all about consistency.

Moving my body

The biggest thing about movement is that you need to do it every day. If you like consistency (I do) then pick a workout you like and do it every single day.

If you thrive on variety, get a subscription to ClassPass and try every gym in your area.

For me it was Barre3. I love the workout so much! It’s a great blend of cardio, strength, and functional movement. It’s the only workout I’ve ever been able to do that does not give me back pain. They have studios all over the country, but if you’re in Seattle and ever want to join me for a class let me know!

Food

I eat a 99% plant-based diet. I do occasionally eat fish and always say yes to a piece of cake if it’s offered, but my day-to-day looks like this:

No breakfast. I fast 16-18 hours a day, so that means no breakfast for me. I’ve never been a big breakfast eater.

Lunch: A meal from my favorite local vegan meal-delivery service. Something like daal, or potato broccoli soup. Check out Hustle Brussel if you live in West Seattle!

Dinner: I’ve been loving a black bean burger lately. And whatever I eat I load it with veggies! Some roasted broccoli, green beans, and sweet potatoes are my fave.

Bevvies: I drink somewhere between 64 and 128 ounces of water daily, have a matcha in the morning, and a latte every afternoon. 1-2 nights a week I’ll have a glass of wine or a cocktail if I go out.

I also make a daily green drink packed with 3-4 servings of leafy greens (I switch up what I use daily, kale, spinach, spring mix, etc.) and 2-3 servings of berries and a banana.

And every day I try to get a serving of mixed nuts, a serving of something fermented, and a serving of beans.

How I work

I work best at my standing desk with a view of my front yard. I’m like a house cat, I like to see what’s going on outside 😹. I take clients from my comfy chair in my office!

This is definitely not the first time you’re hearing this, but having a designated work space is SO important for those of us who work at home. Make sure you're not working from the couch or bed!

For productivity I love working in pomodoros. 25 minutes on, 5 minute break, repeat 4 times and then take a longer break. It allows me to get my scrolling time throughout the day while also remaining productive.

Who I spend time with

People who bring me joy! Have you heard the quote, “if it’s not a hell yes, it’s a no?” I subscribe to this with my friends. I hang out with people who lift me up, inspire me, make me laugh, and make me proud! It inspires me to be the best version of myself and do the same for them.

How I sleep

7.5 hours a night between 10:30pm and 6am in a cool, dark room. There are a few things I use that I swear make me sleep better. I absolutely love my NodPod and my This Works sleep spray. I got this goofy pillow during the pandemic, and it really is amazing if you don’t like the feeling of your face being smooshed while you sleep.

And because sometimes we just can’t resist a good old fashioned favorite things list, here’s some stuff that I love that I think you might too!

Factor meals - Delicious heat and eat meals

LMNT - Minerals for your water

(Affordable) matcha - I drink it every day!

Hand cream - worth the splurge

My apple watch band that I get so many compliments on
